Church of the Holy Comforter

For Parents

Nursery Care

Nursery care is provided during the 10:00 am Sunday service for children under the age of three. The nursery staff are trained and happy to care for your children so that you can worship. Children in the nursery rejoin their parents after the sermon so that the whole family can receive Holy Communion together.

Parenting Small Groups

These affinity groups of parents meet for encouragement, fellowship, and a chance to connect with others who are going through the same things they are. Groups will begin to form in early 2011. More information will be forthcoming.

If you'd like to sponsor a parent cell group, please contact Father Jonathan.

Adult Forum

The adult forum is a series of lively and thought provoking presentations, discussions, and classes that happen throughout the program year. Lasting about forty-five minutes and meeting just after the 10:00 am service, the forum is the perfect way to enrich your spirit and strengthen your faith.

Alpha

Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha course meets once per week for 8 weeks. Each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere where no question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile…questions like—Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from?

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is charged with the sacred task of preparing the altar and the sanctuary for worship. Teams of altar guild members work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure that our worship is beautiful and holy. Men and women of all ages are welcome to join the Guild.

Anglicanism 101

This four week course meets on Wednesday nights each fall. It is designed for those who are new to the Anglican/Episcopal tradition, but it is also an excellent refresher course for lifelong Anglicans. The course also prepares adults for Confirmation or Reception into The Episcopal Church.

Bible Study

Our bible study group follows a variety of exciting and illuminating scripture study programs. The purpose is to understand the scripture better and to wrestle with tough questions. Participants find that they're better equiped to use scripture in their every day lives. The bible study is lay lead and meets in private homes on Monday evenings from September to May.

Choir

Saint Augustine of Hippo once said, "When you sing, you pray twice." Our choir leads us in song during the 10 am service from September through May. The music is a blend of traditional and contemporary. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings. The choir is always happy to have one more voice!

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Not every member of our community can be with us on Sunday mornings. Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) faithfully bring the sacrament of Holy Communion to the frail, the sick, and the homebound of our community. LEMs are trained and licensed by the diocese. This is a very special ministry that involves sensitvity, reverence, and courage.

Lay Readers

Our lay readers are an essential part of our Sunday morning worship. They read lessons from the bible, lead the congregation in prayer, and help to administer Holy Communion. Training sessions occur each September, but new readers are always welcome.

Mere Christianity

This four week class is designed to immerse you in the basics of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. It is a great class for those who are considering being baptized. Classes run each fall and have limited space. Those interested should contact the church office or speak with the priest after church.

Women of Holy Comforter

The Women of the Church of the Holy Comforter seek to unite the Women of the church in a program of worship, service, study and fellowship.  We are blessed with a dedicated group of women who are kind to one another as we serve the Lord, our fellow parishioners, and our selected missions.
