Church of the Holy Comforter

Partership in Peru

This mission partnership allows us to provide fresh, clean drinking water for all the people of Peru, along with the living water of the Gospel for those who are called to receive it.

Holy Comforter works with two different mission partners in Peru.

First, we work with Living Water International to fund the building of clean water wells for people who are living in communities where the water is contaminated. Lack of access to clean water is one of the biggest problems in our world today, leading to poverty, disease, and death for millions annually. By investing in clean water, we are ensuring that a generation of young Peruvians are able to grow up and make a life for themselves. In 2010 we sponsored the building of a well in Union Central. This year, we have already been able to fund work on a second well. That project will begin some time in early 2012.

Second, we work with the Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders to support the work of Fr. Ian Montgomery and his wife Polly. They are missionaries who are working with the Anglican Diocese of Peru to share the Gospel with the people of Peru. The Diocese works primarilly in the poorest areas of the country, especially in and around Lima. Over the last decade, the number of churches and worshipping communities have grown five fold as the people have sought the living water that comes from knowing Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament. We are pleased to be able to partner with Fr. Ian and Polly in this important ministry.
