Church of the Holy Comforter

Service and Mission

As followers of Jesus, we are called to show our love by serving others. We engage in a number of service and mission programs at Holy Comforter that are designed to share the love of Christ with our community and our world.

Advent Conspiracy

In 2009 Advent Conspiracy made its debut at Holy Comforter. We sought to reclaim the seasons of Advent and Christmas from the culture of consumerism and materialism that has hijacked them. We bought fewer gifts, gave more relational gifts, and now we're in the process of using what we saved to build wells in parts of the world where people lack access to clean water.

Aid for Friends

Aid for Friends is a ministry that feeds the needy, shut-ins, and the frail elderly in the greater Philadelphia area. Once a month members of Holy Comforter gather to cook meals for the program. Parishioners also transport the meals downtown to the Aid for Friends headquarters.

Christmas Bazaar

The annual Christmas Bazaar is one of Holy Comforter's most popular events of the year. Church members donate clothing, books, knick knacks, baked goods, and a number of services. Local companies and organizations also make donations. There's good food, fellowship, and all of the proceeds go to benefit mission and outreach in the greater Philadelphia area.

Women of Holy Comforter

The Women of the Church of the Holy Comforter seek to unite the Women of the church in a program of worship, service, study and fellowship.  We are blessed with a dedicated group of women who are kind to one another as we serve the Lord, our fellow parishioners, and our selected missions.
